Silk Fabric Care
Silk is delicate and needs gentle care. Hand wash in lukewarm water with mild detergent, avoid bleaching, and always air dry. Iron while damp on the lowest setting, and store away from direct sunlight.
Chiffon Fabric Care
Chiffon is a lightweight fabric that should be hand washed or machine washed on a gentle cycle with cold water. Use a mild detergent. Do not wring out or twist the fabric. Air dry on a flat surface and iron on the lowest setting.
Cotton Fabric Care
Cotton is quite durable. It can be machine washed with cold or warm water. Use a regular detergent. Tumble dry on a low setting, but air drying is the best to maintain its shape. Ironing can be done on a high setting while the fabric is damp.
Satin Fabric Care
Satin should be hand washed or machine washed in cold water on a delicate cycle. Do not wring or twist the fabric. Air dry and iron on the inside with the iron on a cool setting.
Velvet Fabric Care
Velvet needs special care. It should be dry cleaned, but some velvets can be machine washed on a delicate cycle. Do not wring or twist the fabric. Steam the garment while it's hanging or use an iron on a low setting, but always iron on the reverse side.
Here's how you can ensure your garment remains in top condition:
-
Hand Wash: Always opt for hand washing your silk items. Fill a clean basin with lukewarm water and add a mild detergent. Gently swirl the garment in the water, avoiding excessive rubbing or wringing as it can damage the fabric's delicate fibers.
-
Do Not Bleach: Silk is a natural fiber, and bleach can deteriorate its quality, leading to fabric damage or discoloration. Always steer clear of bleach or other harsh chemicals.
-
Rinse Thoroughly: Rinse the garment thoroughly in cold water to remove all traces of detergent. This step is essential as leftover soap can leave spots or discoloration.
-
Drying: Do not wring out the water from your silk garment, as it can damage the fabric's shape and fibers. Instead, lay the garment flat on a clean, dry towel and roll it up to absorb excess moisture. Then, unroll the towel and leave the item to air dry away from direct sunlight, which can cause fading.
-
Ironing: If needed, iron silk inside out while it is still damp to avoid water staining. Use the 'silk' setting on your iron, which should be the lowest heat. Be careful not to wet the silk too much, as water may leave lasting marks on the fabric.
-
Storage: Store your silk garments in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent any color fading.
Please note that while hand washing is generally safe for silk, some silk garments may require dry cleaning. Always check the label on our garment before cleaning.
